【摘要】:Petroleumproductscancontainadditivesthatreactwithalkalitoformmetalsoaps.Fatsareexamplesofsuchadditives.Also,certainusedengineoils,especiallyfromturbineorinternalcombustionengines,cancontainchemicalsthatwillsimilarlyreactwithalkali.Thesaponificationnumberexpressestheamountofbasethatwillreactwith1gofsamplewhenheatedinaspecificmanner.Thisthengivesanestimationoftheamountofacidpresentinthesample,thatis,anyfreeacidoriginallypresentplusanycombined(forexample,inesters)thathavebeenconvertedtometalsoapsduringtheheatingprocedure.Saponificationnumbersarealsousedinsettingproductspecificationsforlubricantsandadditives.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationoftheamountofconstituentsinpetroleumproductssuchaslubricants,additives,andtransmissionfluidsthatwillsaponifyundertheconditionsofthetest.Note18212;StatementsdefiningthistestanditssignificancewhenappliedtoelectricalinsulatingoilsofmineraloriginwillbefoundinGuideD117.Experiencehasshownthatfortransformeroils,TestMethodD94,modifiedbyuseof0.1MKOHsolutionand0.1MHCl,ismoresuitable.1.1.1Twotestmethodsaredescribed:MethodA-ColorIndicatorTitration(Sections6-13),andMethodB8212;PotentiometricTitration(Sections14-23).1.2Becausecompoundsofsulfur,phosphorus,thehalogens,andcertainotherelementsthataresometimesaddedtopetroleumproductsalsoconsumealkaliandacids,theresultsobtainedindicatetheeffectoftheseextraneousmaterialsinadditiontothesaponifiablematerialpresent.Resultsonproductscontainingsuchmaterials,onusedinternal-combustion-enginecrankcaseoils,andonusedturbineoilsmustbeinterpretedwithcaution.Note28212;Thematerialsreferredtoabove,whicharenotnormallyconsideredsaponifiablematter,includeinorganicorcertainorganicacids,mostnonalkalisoaps,andsoforth.Thepresenceofsuchmaterialsincreasesthesaponificationnumberabovethatoffattysaponifiablematerialsforwhichthetestmethodisprimarilyintended.Theodorofhydrogensulfideneartheendoftheback-titrationinthesaponificationtestisanindicationthatcertaintypesofreactivesulfurcompoundsarepresentinthesample.Inthecaseofotherreactivesulfur,chlorine,andphosphoruscompoundsandotherinterferingmaterials,nosimpleindicationisgivenduringthetest.Agravimetricdeterminationoftheactualamountoffattyacidsisprobablythemostreliablemethodforsuchcompounds.TestMethodsD128orIPMethod284/86canbeusedtodeterminefattyacidsgravimetrically.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSections6,7,8,10,15,16,17,and19.
